If you have been granted asylum in Finland and you want your family to come to Finland, your family members must apply for a residence permit. The residence permit may be filled in electronically at enterfinland.fi. Each family member aged 18 and over must fill in their own residence permit application. The application of a minor must be filled in by their guardian. Your family members may also apply for a residence permit directly from a Finnish foreign mission.
Regardless of how your family members have filled in their residence permit application, all your family members must go in person to a Finnish mission or other service point to identify themselves and provide fingerprints and they may also be invited for interview.
Because Finland does not have a mission in all countries, your family members may have to travel to another country. In such a case, they must, if necessary, apply for a visa for the country in question.
• Residence permit applications for family members living in Iraq or Syria are accepted at the external service point of the Finnish Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.
• Residence permit applications for family members living in Afghanistan are processed at the Finnish Embassy in New Delhi, India.
• Residence permit applications for family members living in Somalia are processed at the Finnish Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, or at the Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.
When visiting a mission, each of your family members must have with them original copies of the documents required in the application and a passport photo.
