After a child has received a favourable decision on his/her asylum application, his/her family members, i.e. guardians and underage siblings may apply for a residence permit in Finland.
The family members may fill in their residence permit application electronically at enterfinland.fi. They may also make the residence permit application at a Finnish foreign mission.
All family members applying for a residence permit must visit a Finnish foreign mission or other processing point in person, in order to identify themselves and provide fingerprints, even when the residence permit application has been done electronically. If there is a need to interview family members, they will be invited to the mission.
The Finnish foreign mission might be situated in a country other than where family members live, in which case they must if necessary apply for a visa for the country in question.
A person arriving in Finland as an underage asylum seeker loses his/her right to have his/her guardians and underage siblings in the country, if he/she turns 18 before receiving a favourable decision on his/her own application.
